I’m Ray Nowosielski, father, partner, activist, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, journalist, writer, member of the Documentary Producers Alliance, co-owner of investigative media company Double Asterisk**, founder & curator of non-fiction media collaborative True Stories.
The job of a storyteller isn’t done until the work has been received by an audience. That’s why I created this site, Ray’s Online Film Festival (plus Podcasts & Writing!), making it super easy to watch, read and listen to my entire body of work* in one place. Since each of you have different interests, everything is organized into genres, subjects and themes for easy exploration.

*Non-fiction film is a strongly collaborative process. I love and need collaboration. Many of the projects on this web site were directed or shot or edited by others, with me contributing in my role as Creative Producer or Consulting Producer. That doesn’t mean they’re not mine too. I believe you’ll notice a cohesion of themes, interests and approaches across my projects. And I agree with my colleagues in the Documentary Producers Alliance (DPA) when they wrote in 2021, "Producers are the unsung linchpins holding documentary projects and the field together. This normalized absence of recognition for the role we play has wrought genuine harm to our careers, our livelihoods, our mental health and our imaginations." Here here!
